Gare de L'Est Paris Scrapbook Layout

One of my favorite ways to enjoy my travel memories after I come home is through my scrapbooking! This Paris scrapbook layout features the gorgeous Gare de L'est train station, where I caught trains to Frankfurt during my recent trips.

Supplies Used:

The background of this layout is a gorgeous paper from the Captured Adventures collection by 49 and Market. Their distressed backgrounds work wonderfully for my style of creating, and the muted colors are perfect for photos of Paris in the winter.

The first element that went into the page design was the photo. I positioned it so it was somewhat framed naturally by the design of the paper. I also framed it with the ornate stamps (also by 49 and Market). The stamps both highlighted the photo (because of the gold color) and provided a grounding element for the photo.

Next up I wanted to make a title block in the bottom corner of the photo. The "wanderlust" label was part of the paper collection, as was the piece of paper I put it on - sort of. The border with the numbers is part of a Captured Adventures" paper design, but the map design is not. I created that with a Paris Map stamp by Stampendous. Then I added the clock and a few 28 Lilac Lane embellishments.

The upper corner of the photo needed some elements to balance out the large block at the bottom of the photo. Since this Paris scrapbook layout was of a train station, some tickets and a gear (from a 28 Lilac Lane kit) seemed like just what it needed!

The top of my Paris scrapbook layout had a lot of white space. I made a ticket strip with my Tim Holtz "Odds & Ends" stamps and the matching dies (sadly discontinued). These tickets gave me room to add a date, place, and a few journaling notes to the layout. I also added a few green 28 Lilac Lane elements in the upper corner. These add some dimension. But more importantly, they complete a triangle of green highlights that leads the eye visually through the layout.

The final element I added to my Paris scrapbook layout was a little bit of Paris! To add some theming of the city, I stamped across the bottom left edge with a Paris skyline stamp from Tim Holtz's Cityscapes stamp set.

This train station in the early morning was my first real glimpse of the historic city of Paris, so it was important to me to preserve this memory. I'm definitely thrilled with how my Paris layout of Gare de L'est turned out!
